Blake Lively Sent Ryan Reynolds the Sweetest Gift for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
By now, we all know how much Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, like to prank each other and troll one another, but in a new interview with Vanity Fair, Reynolds shared a sweet gift that his wife sent to the set of Deadpool & Wolverine. The sentimental reason behind the gift is enough for fans to forget the time Reynolds commemorated Lively’s birthday with unflattering photos and the time she referred to him simply as a “fan” when they attended a Yankees game.
Reynolds explained that Lively sent a ping-pong table to Pinewood Studios, where filming for the upcoming Deadpool sequel took place, because they’ve amassed a collection of Hollywood stars playing table tennis in their off-time.
“Speaking of Blake, that’s the real reason these ping-pong photos came about. She and I have a bunch of these prints of actors playing it on their sets,” Reynolds said. “We’ve got Newman and Redford in Durango, Mexico, during the shooting of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. We’ve got Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda, I think in the ’30s. We have Olivia de Havilland playing ping-pong, Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman playing. Joan Crawford. So, Blake sent the ping-pong table to Pinewood Studios.”
“The three of us together are like the Three Amigos,” Jackman added, referring to himself, Reynolds, and director Shawn Levy. “There was not a day where I wasn’t in tears laughing. I felt so rejuvenated playing the part. I mean, I’m 25 years in, man, and it feels better than ever.”
Levy emphasized the sentiment behind the heartwarming gift, saying, “It’s why those ping-pong photos are our personal favorites. For the three of us, those photos are treasures.
They captured the spirit of this shoot. It was very hard work, but it was fun every day because we were doing it with buddies.”
Ahead of the movie’s release on July 26, rumors were spreading that Lively was set to make a cameo in the film as Lady Deadpool. The film’s latest full-length trailer shows a shot of what appear to be woman’s legs and, naturally, fans jumped at the idea of them belonging to Lively.
