‘Ambition must be to get to the Premier League’ – Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney aim for the stars at Wrexham as ‘not easy’ warning is sounded

Hollywood superstars at SToK Racecourse completed a stunning takeover in North Wales with Wrexham having found themselves stuck in non-league football for over a decade. They quickly set about turning that tide, with the National League title claimed in record-breaking style.
Back-to-back promotions have now lifted Wrexham into League One, but the intention is to climb much higher. Further investment will be required along the way, potentially from more famous faces, with Reynolds and McElhenney warned that it will “not be easy” to hit ultimate targets.

Harvey has told Forbes when asked about how far the Red Dragons can go: “There is a simple answer and there is a very complicated answer. The bottom line is that the club’s ambition is to go as far forward and as high as possible. So that means our ambition must be to get to the Premier League – otherwise we are contradicting ourselves. Everybody understands and realises that is not going to be easy. But, every single year three clubs get promoted now from League One and indeed the Championship. We just need to try and give ourselves the best shot at getting promoted from League One to the Championship. At that stage we are then one step away from the Promised Land. Now, that is easy to say and a lot harder to do. But with Rob and Ryan’s backing, with the support of the local community and the tremendous support that we get from United Airlines and all our sponsors, ultimately we are giving ourselves the best chance. And why are we doing it? So the community of Wrexham benefits.”

Every step taken is being caught on camera by the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary, with a fourth series of that show already being confirmed. It may be that regular meetings with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United form part of that production at some point in the not too distant future.
