Fans Declare: Serena Williams Deserved More! Speculation Rises on the Missed Grand Slam Opportunities as the Tennis Icon Clinched her 73rd WTA Title in 2020.

Serena Williams finished her tennis career with 73 WTA titles to her name, 23 of which came at Grand Slams. The American icon’s final Major title came at the 2017 Australian Open, while her final WTA Tour title came at the 2020 ASB Classic in Auckland.
Between those two events, the former World No. 1 reached five finals, facing a loss in each. Williams reached the finals of the Wimbledon Championships and the US Open in both 2018 and 2019, as well as the final of the Canadian Open in 2019.

In Auckland, however, no one could stop the 23-time Grand Slam champion, as she defeated the likes of Camilla Giorgi, Laura Siegemund, and Amanda Anisimova to reach the final.
In the summit clash, she took down Jessica Pegula to mark victory and posed for the trophy afterward with her then-two-year-old daughter Olympia. On the fourth anniversary of the win, fans on social media recalled the momentous occasion, celebrating Serena Williams and sharing the emotions they experienced at the time.
“Damn this makes me cry. Sure it’s her last title and it is what it is but she should’ve been holding Olympia for at LEAST 3 grand slam titles too,” one fan tweeted.

“I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. I celebrated that match point like if it was a Grand Slam because it had been so long since she won any title,” another fan said.
